What’s Next For Auto Detailing in 2023 and Beyond

Having spent time this year closely analyzing the auto detailing industry (and overseeing countless detailing jobs at VIP Autospa), I'd like to take a minute to outline five trends that have caught my eye that could greatly impact the industry in 2023 and beyond.

Whether you are a bonafide car enthusiast or an everyday driver, you'll benefit from learning about these developments and how they can help you keep your vehicle in tip-top shape and maintain its overall aesthetic appeal.

#1 - Nanotechnology will continue to revolutionize the industry.

If there has been one immensely impactful advancement in detailing, it has to be nano-ceramic technology. Though it may be a newer development in the world of auto detailing, it has really taken off.

Every car owner wants their car to look better and cleaner for longer, and a well-engineered ceramic coating can do just that. From the durable protective shield to hydrophobicity to UV resistance, the benefits are numerous.

Thanks to nano-ceramic technology, we are able to offer world-class detailing products from Ceramic Pro: Ceramic 9H and Kavaca Window Tint. There's good reason why these two offerings are our top sellers at VIP Auto Spa, and we expect this trend to continue through 2023.

#2 - Increased focus on automotive hygiene and health.

The pandemic drove up awareness about vehicle hygiene. Then there's the research on the glaring health effects of UV exposure while locked inside a car. Consumers who once cared only about the appearance of their cars now place just as much importance, if not more, on their health and well-being. This has promoted the introduction of newer technologies such as laser cleaning and ceramic tinting

At VIP Auto Spa, we are proud to add Kavaca Ceramic Tint to our service offerings. This revolutionary tint delivers excellent heat rejection, glare control and UV protection, blocking up to 99%+ of carcinogenic UVA and UVB rays and filters 96% of infrared heat.

#3 - First-rate detailers will still be hard to find.

You can book a technician in 10 minutes, but in reality, detailers with advanced and refined skills are rare. Add to that the fact that the technology behind detailing products is fast evolving and requires detailers to constantly adapt.

As a result, some vehicle owners are willing to put up with the inconvenience of having to sometimes wait for detailing services if they expect consistent, high-quality work from a seasoned professional.

If there's one thing that many of our repeat clients can attest to, it's the consistency of the work we deliver. We continue working to train our detailers and offer them the best support — and our 5-star reviews prove that the VIP team always delivers!

#4 - Mobile apps & online scheduling will become the norm.

Auto detailing is one of those industries that tends to lag behind other sectors in adopting new technology. But in recent years that has changed. Expect to see more and more detailing companies automating many of their processes in 2023 — aside from actual detailing, of course!

New technologies allow business owners to stay relevant and save time and money. Today's savvy consumers like the convenience of mobile apps and technology but they still expect a personal touch — a priority at VIP Auto Spa.

Technology is something we are very interested in and we're excited to find new ways to use it to simplify the entire detailing process for our clients. We will keep you posted on our progress and are always open to suggestions on how we can further streamline our processes and customer experience. We'd love to hear from you!

#5 - Eco-friendly automotive products are on the rise.

Car owners and detailers have become increasingly environmentally conscious over the past several years. I expect this to translate into more eco-friendly detailing products and water-saving.

For instance, more detailers are embracing biodegradable waterless products vs. harsh traditional chemicals and using No-Rinse Wash and steam cleaners to conserve water. All these are steps in the right direction for your local ecosystem. Expect to see more of these practices in 2023 and beyond.

If you’re looking for ways to be a little more eco-friendly, you might be surprised to know that getting your car professionally washed is better than doing it yourself — research indicates that most detailers use substantially less water than at-home car washes. But if you still prefer washing your vehicle at home, click here for tips and a list of our favorite eco-friendly products.

We are very excited about the future of the auto detailing industry — the only way is up! We look forward to introducing new technologies and practices in 2023 to better serve our clients. As we commonly say at VIP Auto Spa: "We are only as good as our last paint protection service!"
